One of my favorite things I love to hear others say when you talk about someones set up is "Their tone sucks". It can be said in a lot of different ways. His/Her tone sucks. Your tone is horrible. It always makes me wonder, who gave them the final decision in how everyone else should sound or play. I will say that there are tones and sounds and music that I really do not wish to listen too or types of music I can go without. But who am I to say they or their music or their tone sucks.
If only one tone was really really good, wouldn't everyone's sound like that. Wouldn't that mean only one amp, one pedal board and one guitar would be sold so everyone sounded like that and everyone's tone was the "best"?
I am a firm believer that every musician has their on tone or sound and style. That is what makes music great. You do not have to like everyone's music or sound. But don't put them down. There is more than enough room for everyone at this big table we call music. If you like your tone/sound. Then that is all that matters. If you try different things constantly to chase tone, enjoy it. Have fun.
Keep reaching for the stars and be yourself. Enjoy what you do and do not worry about what others say or think. Yes, ask advice if you hear something you like and engage in conversation. But do not go broke or use gear you do not like to appease others thoughts of what they think is the best.
